Feature:
Im reluctant to write this... This unit has ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDING, EASIEST TO USE DRUM MACHINES you can find anywhere built into it. I bought this thing as a portable practice keyboard because its very light and has decent sound. Only after I brought it home did I discover the drum machine buried among all the other features. I couldnt believe how great it was. Im a songwriter with a home studio, and hate the tedious programming many drum machines demand. You cant build a drum pattern note by note with this keyboard, but the 100+ pre-recorded patterns sound professional, include intros, fills, A & B versions, and endings, and the programming is dead simple once you figure out the built in 2-track recorder. Its now my primary drum machine, slaving my multitrack recorder via MIDI.
Quality:
Its light and made of plastic. The key action is not for serious players. The real value is in the quality and quantity of the sounds, and the above mentioned drum machine.
Value:
Yamaha impresses me again. Ive had great experiences with their products over the last 20+ years. There is value in this keyboard for everyone from beginner music students to music professionals.
Sound:
Sounds acceptable through the built in speakers. Sounds fantastic through the headphone/output jack.
Ease of Use:
This thing does a lot for an inexpensive keyboard. Some functions require cracking open the manual to figure out.

Yamaha Ez250i 61-key Portable Keyboard Personal Keyboards Yamaha Keyboards and MIDI Shipping Cost :$5.99 Feature: The EZ-250i has a handy built-in chord dictionary, which is a great addition for piano students. Overall: Im the guy that wrote the "Great way to teach yourself" review. Its 4 months later and Im still using the keyboard daily. Granted it requires some discipline, but it goes much smoother when you are playing tunes you like. I went on the web and did a search for peoples favorite rock piano songs then I located and downloaded (accurate-sounding) MIDI files for some of the tunes. Then I learned a few by using the A-B looping feature of the keyboard. The first thing that I learned was the VH intro piano riff to "Right Now". I practice this daily because its sounds cool and its a heck of a workout for my right hand. (The left hand is next!) Next, I learned Imagine (easy and fun to play, keep the pedal down!), then "Saturday In The Park", and Im finishing learning "Desparado" right now. All of these tunes have easy 1-note left-hand parts (no chords.) Ive also learne bits and pieces of many other tunes that I play for fun. A huge bonus is that after youve learned a tune, you can play along with the original CD and it sounds great! People that hear me play think Im a piano player! This is worth the price of the keyboard to me. Retail Price :$459.95 Review this product |
